The Patient Safety Knowledge Builder (KBCore) is a Web-based open platform. The transformation of KBCore to the InterSystems Cachè database is a newly completed, component-based, customer-centric patient safety recording and analysis system.

KBCore can be used to upgrade individual hospital departments or can serve as the basis for a full patient safety evaluation system (PSES) to replace legacy reporting systems.

KBCore provides a single platform to support multiple subsystems to localize and integrate privileging and credentialing functions, peer review information, clinical quality metrics, quality improvement follow up, work flow, statistical process control charting, and applications covering all of the major functions required for a hospital patient safety, quality and risk management evaluation system.

Rather than being built as a monolithic product, the suite has been architected on a component-based model to offer a truly scalable stack or multi-tier application.

The CRG Medical Knowledge Builder Suite (KBSuite) is a set of four patient safety knowledge building quality improvement modules that run as an ASP utility model on the InterSystems Cachè Database.

These modules include KBBasic, KBBasic Plus, KBCore, and KBCore Plus. These four modules are designed to scale from the doctor's office in a clinic to a rural hospital, a hospital system or a statewide network. The modules may be installed as separate components to permit users to upgrade and modernize particular recording and analysis functions in a cost effective manner.

By allowing upgrades of particular recording and analysis functions to support a certain department or discipline, CRG Medical can offer its customers rapid implementation of changes and early return on investment.
